Ivan Lintin has claimed pole position for Saturday's Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix Supertwins race with the McKinstry Racing rider setting a lap of 118.078mph. The Lincolnshire rider won the corresponding race 12 months ago and his lap was just seven-tenths outside of Ryan Farquhar's lap record set in 2012.
Lee Johnston was only half a second further back of Lintin whilst initial pace setter Keith Amor ended up third after a lap of 117.134mph. His KMR Kawasaki team-mate Connor Behan moved up to fourth late on in the session with a lap of 116.709mph and he'll be joined on the second row by Michael Sweeney and Dan Cooper, the latter down to just the one bike after his recently purchased Supersport let go after three laps yesterday.
Leading Irish Championship rider Derek McGee occupied the seventh place position just ahead of former 125cc British Champion Christian Elkin whose late lap of 114.650 saw him leap up inside the top ten. Michael Dunlop and James Cowton rounded out the top ten but debutante Glenn Irwin was out of luck as he was forced to stop on the opening lap on the run towards Deers Leap.
