Farquhar, Cooper hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries

Ryan Farquhar and Dan Cooper have both been taken to hospital following this evening’s crash in the North West 200 Supertwins race but neither have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Farquhar and Cooper fell at the top of Black Hill in the race, which had already been red-flagged after some numpty let a fire get out of control. The pair were battling for the lead when Farquhar went down and Cooper had nowhere to go. Cooper has a shoulder injury while Farquhar has chest and pelvic injuries. An respected source has told bikesportnews.com that the Dungannon rider nabbed a phone from someone to call wife, Karen.

A statement from the race organisers reads:

Two riders, Ryan Farquhar (KMR/SGS Kawasaki) and Dan Cooper (Dan Cooper Racing Kawasaki), crashed at Black Hill on the third lap of the Supertwins race.
As a result the race was red flagged.
Neither rider has suffered life threatening injuries.
Dan Cooper will be taken to Causeway hospital, Coleraine.
Ryan Farquhar will be taken to hospital in Belfast.
