2016 North West 200: Johnston fighting the pain

Injured Ulsterman Lee Johnston pulled in during yesterday’s North West 200 Superstock practice after banging his injured leg at Juniper but is determined to ride through the pain in the two race days.

Johnston crashed at the Scarborough Spring Cup and ended up in hospital but has shown some serious grit to get to the golden triangle and put in some decent times in qualifying.

“I was in so much pain I was crying but once racing starts I’ll forget all about it,” said the Fermanagh man said after retiring his ECC/Burdens BMW with fifth fastest time.
