2018 Ulster GP: Harrison tops first Superbike qualifying

Dean Harrison added to his Supersport provisional pole position by topping the first 2018 Superbike qualifying session at the 2018 Ulster GP.

The session was red-flagged after a crash involving Derek McGee and Seamus Elliott, and only restarted at just after 6.30pm. Harrison had set the quickest time on his Silicone Racing Kawasaki before the stoppage but then upped his game to a 3'21.161 on his 14th lap

Smith's Peter Hickman elected to ride his Stock bike for the remainder of the session but his best of 3'21.983, set on only his third lap, was enough for second place. Padgetts Honda's Conor Cummins was third with a 3'22.239.

TT sensation Davey Todd took his Burrows Engineering Suzuki to fifth place behind Cummins with Lee Johnson's works Honda in sixth on a 3'25.767. McGee, who suffered broken bones in his crash, ended in seventh but will take no further part in proceedings.

Paul Jordan ended in eighth with Sam West ninth and Adam McLean in tenth, just ahead of Michael Sweeney in 11th place. Dan Cooper beat Brian McCormack to 13th with David Jackson 134th and Dominic Herbertson, who is standing in for the injured Ivan Lintin, completing the top 15.

Elliott is reported by race direction to have suffered similar injuries to McGee in the crash.
