2022 Isle of Man TT schedule confirmed

Isle of Man TT organisers have today announced the schedule for the 2022 event and although the number of races remain the same – taking place on the traditional days of Saturday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday – significant changes have been made for qualifying which will again stretch over six days.

In a major change to previous years, the opening qualifying session will now not only take place on Sunday (29th May) but will also take place during the afternoon and be held for a longer period than normal. This replaces the Saturday evening session which has got proceedings underway in recent years.

The qualifying schedule will then revert to its familiar evening time slots from Monday to Thursday before another afternoon session takes place on Friday. This will be the final session of the fortnight and will give competitors more time to prepare ahead of Saturday’s opening Superbike race.

The session will also revive memories of the popular, and traditional, Thursday afternoon session, which last took place in 2006.

Further, and significant, changes, will then be seen on the race day schedules which will now see a single warm-up lap for competitors take place each morning before racing gets underway.

The removal of midweek qualifying and practice sessions, which have taken place both in between and after the day’s racing, will allow for a more streamlined daily schedule with roads subsequently opening earlier than currently scheduled.
