2025 Isle of Man TT, Q2 Results - Davey Todd fastest SBK on Friday but rain stops play again

Davey Todd sprung to the top of the Superbike timesheets as qualifying action for the 2025 Isle of Man TT resumed to complete only its second session of a weather-disrupted week.

The double TT winner led a Monster Energy BMW 1-2 from Peter Hickman in the Superbike class with a fastest lap of 132.673mph as four riders breached the magic 130mph marker on Friday afternoon.

However, the day was marred by an incident involving Hickman, who crashed on the opening lap of Friday evening's session and was airlifted to hospital. The session was then cancelled altogether due to bad weather.

While Todd was fastest in the Superbike class, Dean Harrison again with the fastest lap outright of the day on the Superstock factory Honda CBR1000RR-R at 132.853mph.

Though it was a welcome return to action for the TT after Thursday's weather issues, the day didn't go without a hitch after incoming rain on the forecast forced organisers to cancel Friday evening's track action, putting yet more pressure on an already upended schedule.

Indeed, it was only the second time this week the runners and riders have gotten out around the Mountain Course after inclement weather made Thursday's action a no-go following the Qualifying 1 on Wednesday.

On that occasion it was Honda Racing's Harrison topping the timesheets with a 133.069mph best, a lap that resisted the best laps of Friday to leave him at the summit of the table heading into the weekend.

Harrison - along with other top contenders - for his part focused primarily on the Superstock machines to get some much-needed mileage on their bikes, while Hickman in second place also went quicker on his SSTK BMW than he did on the Superbike specification.

However, Hickman will no sit out the remainder of the event after suffering a crash at Kerrowmoar on the opening lap of Friday evening's session, which started as planned but would be red flagged and then cancelled altogether. Organisers say the 8TEN Racing rider was 'conscious and stable'.

In Superbike terms it was Todd who ended the day on top in the 'big bike' class, the 2022 National Superstock Champion emphasising himself as a threat to his rivals in the blue riband SBK/Senior TT races.

Behind Hickman in second, Conor Cummins made good headway on the Burrows Engineering/RK Racing BMW to assure a top three lockout for the German manufacturer.

Nathan Harrison came in fourth, ahead of TT record-holder Michael Dunlop on his MD Racing BMW, Team Classic Suzuki's Shaun Anderson and moobob MLav Racing's Ian Hutchinson.

In the Superstock class, Harrison led Hickman from Todd and Dunlop, the latter getting above 130mph having just fallen shy on the Superbike equivalent.

2025 Isle of Man TT - Supersport, Supertwins and Sidecars

In Supersport, Harrison was again the quickest of all on his factory Honda CBR600RR, his best lap of 128.093mph marginally edging out Michael Dunlop.

Dunlop had impressed on the first day of action aboard his MD Racing Ducati Panigale V2, but was made to cede the top spot to Harrison on the overall timesheets after two sessions, posting a best of 127.543mph.

The pair had faced competition from Hickman too, the 14-time TT winner looming with a 127.543mph on his self-entered Triumph STR765 prior to his event-ending accident.

The top three are chased by Todd and Josh Brookes on their respective Honda CBR600RRs, James Hillier on a Kawasaki ZX-6R and Paul Jordan on a Honda.

In Supertwins, Dunlop headed proceedings on his trusty Paton S1-R with a 122.159mph lap, heading off Michael Evans on the Dafabet Kawasaki ER-6F and Dominic Herbertson on another Paton.

In Sidecars, Ryan and Callum Crowe set a new benchmark for the week with a 120.202mph lap on their Honda LCR, ahead of Peter Founds and Jevan Walmsley, with Ben Birchall and new partner Patrick Rosney in third.

Schedule disruption

While Friday afternoon's wasn't disrupted, the onset of rain in the evening cost organisers the chance to get Qualifying 3 underway as hoped.

It places further pressure on a schedule that has already been forced to move Saturday's planned races - Supersport and Sidecars - to Monday to give the riders the chance to squeeze in a fourth and fifth qualifying session.

Friday evening's cancellation means only as many as four qualifying sessions will take place - assuming Saturday's action is unaffected by weather - before race action begins on Sunday instead with the Superbike race as planned.

Under an unaffected schedule the riders would normally get the chance to complete five qualifying sessions during the first week of the TT by Friday but so far only two sessions have been completed in that time.

While weather disruptions have been commonplace over the years, TT organisers have benefited from largely good conditions during the most recent editions.

It means this is the first real test of the expanded TT schedule of having two races per class since the format was introduced in 2023.
