Scottish rider Keith Amor, who is better known for his road racing skills, continued his domination on the short circuits over Easter when the Irish Superbike Championship crossed Strangford Lough on Easter Monday to Kirkistown.
Amor, who dominated at Bishopscourt on Friday and Saturday, was again in fine form at the Belfast and District run race. He again took the double in the Irish Racer / Ards Tourism backed Superbike races, taking the wins ahead of Lisburn rider Davy Haire who was delighted with his two second places but was disappointed with his starts.
Amor and Haire took the top two podium places in race one ahead of James Dickson and Rory Clarke, whilst in race two it was Gerard Kinghan who was third placed behind Amor and Haire with Dickson pushed back to fourth place.
The Scotsman Amor wasn’t quite in as dominate form in the Supersport which he was pushed into second place in the opening race behind William Dunlop whilst clubman Glenn Irwin put many an Irish Supersport rider to shame, betting them to take the third place both times out. It was Mark Lunney who took the win in the second race with Dunlop pushed back to second place.
Lunney was again in dominate form taking the double win in both the 125 MAR Properties race and the 250GP race. In the 125s he took the win ahead of Drew Jamison in race one with Robert English third whilst English and Jamison reversed positions behind Lunney in race two. In the 250 race Lunney snatched the first win ahead of Mark Hanna and Thomas Lawlor, whilst in race two the win was Lunney’s again, this time ahead of Derek McLaughlin and Thomas Lawlor.
This Isaac Agnew Van Centre backed Supertwins race saw Lee Hill dominate both races ahead of David Craig with Alan Glasgow taking the final podium place in race one and James Conroy taking third in race two. Joe Phillips and Emmet O’Grady shared the spoils in the Supersport 400 races whilst it was John Clarke and Stuart Graham who were the victors in the Sidecar races ahead of Scott Lawrie and James Connell. Third place in the first race went to Steve Pullan and Kevin Morgan and in race two went to George Kennedy and Colin Smyth.
