Keith Amor from Falkirk became the first Scotsman in the 33-year history of the running of the Enkalon Trophy race to win this illustrious trophy, jointly hosted by Killinchy & District MCC and MCRRCI at Bishopscourt today. Amor who got his Easter weekend off to a winning start with two victories yesterday, was also dominate today in the second day of racing.
Amor not only took victory in the main feature race, the Enkalon Trophy, to put himself in the history books alongside names like Phillip McCallen, Sam McClements, Robert Dunlop, Cameron Dondald and last year Michael Laverty, but he also took three more wins. The man from Scotland who normally does most of his racing on the roads was more than delighted when he also won both Irish Superbike races this afternoon and one of the two Supersport races, although no doubt he would have preferred the first place instead of second in the final of the Supersport races, where Mark Lunney got the better of him for the first time this weekend.
With six wins and a second place out of seven race starts, the first half of the Easter weekend was certainly successful for Amor who now travels across Strangford Lough for Monday’s Bank Holiday meeting at Bishopscourt where he will be hoping to add to his winning margin.
Amor took the Enkalon victory ahead of Lincolnshire man Gary Johnston with the first of the home runners, Davy Haire from Lisburn taking the third place. This result was replicated in both of the Irish Superbike races when Amor took both victories ahead of Johnston with Haire again the final podium finisher both times out.
However when it came to the Supersport class Amor was forced to share the victories with Belfast man Mark Lunney. Amor took the first win ahead of Lunney with William Dunlop in third, but roles were reversed in the second race with Lunney reaching the chequered flag before Amor with Dunlop again third placed.
In the 125cc races it was William’s younger brother Michael and Lunney who shared the laurels with Dunlop taking the first win ahead of Ciaran Donnelly and Drew Jamison, whilst it was Lunney who took the spoils second time out ahead of Jamison and Robert English.
Lee Hill and Alan Glasgow shared the race wins in the Supertwins races with Glenn Irwin taking both wins in the Clubman’s races. In the opening race today he recommenced his battle with Richard Rea to take the victory ahead of Rea but in race two it was Kenny Robinson who finished third in the first race who took second place with William Davidson in third.
