At La Mon House Hotel and Country Club on Sunday, the Ballygowan & District Road Racing Supporters Club launched their plans for sponsorship in 2009. For the season ahead they will continue with their programme of helping out a rider in the 250cc championship, although for 2009 it will be Ballymoney rider William Dunlop who has come on board.

They will also again be donating £250.00 to Dr Fred McSorley’s Fund to help injured riders and along with their continued backing of the Man of the Meeting Award for the Bush Road Races and helping out local charity Natasha Falls Fund.

However new for 2009 is their backing of the re-established MCUI Ulster Centre Road Racing Championship, the Club were pleased to announce that they will be providing £1600 in sponsorship for the Supersport Championship, where they will be paying £700.00 to the overall winner, with £400.00 going to second place, £300.00 for third place and £200.00 for fourth overall.

The Club which meet in La Mon Hotel and Country Club on the 1st Thursday of every month are delighted to be able to put so much back into Road Racing this season and hope this will be the first of many years backing of the Championship, but stressed this can only be done with the help and financial support of the members.

Bobby Jackson, Chairman of the Ballygowan Club thanked the members for “their continued help and supported and would like to encourage new members to come along to meetings”. Secretary of the MCUI Ulster Centre Alan Drysdale was also at the event and thanked the Club for their sponsorship in 2009 and their continued invaluable donations to the medical funds.
