Media coverage provided by the BBC in Northern Ireland is set to be even bigger and better than last year, according to Northern Ireland BBC Sports boss Mike Edgar, who during a glamour press launch in BBC’s Blackstaff Studio in Belfast, announced this year’s exciting plans.

For the first time BBC NI will be screening live on the Interactive Service, the two Superbike races, along with live reports from the circuit throughout the week on BBC NI Newsline, plus two highlight programmes shown on BBC NI on Sunday 18th & Monday 19th May and a National highlights programme on BBC2, throughout the UK on Sunday 25th May.

Alongside the television coverage they will be again going interactive, showing live footage from both practice nights and race day, along with many other exciting features, including interviews with the riders and downloads, which will be available from midnight on Tuesday 18th March on the website, www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/nw200/.

During the Press Launch Clerk of the Course Meryvn Whyte also announced that DeWalt will again for the ninth year is sponsoring the Superbike races, whilst Club Soi will again be sponsoring the Supersport race with Greenline sponsoring the newly brought back 250 race.

In the final exciting development Whyte also announced that a new starting lights and digital clock system will be in place for the 2008 event, a first for the North West, were normally a flag is used for the starting procedure.
