Full details of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Lightweight and Ultra Lightweight TT Races have been announced by the Department of Tourism and Leisure and race organisers the Southern 100 MCRC.
Both races will take place over 12 laps of the 4.25mile Billown Circuit near Castletown in the south of the Island.
Practice will consist of a 10 minute newcomer’s session on Saturday, June 7, 2008, starting at 11.40am, followed by 20 minute free practice sessions for both classes. There will be two 20 minute timed qualifying sessions for both the Lightweight and Ultra Lightweight Races, which will decide the grid places.
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Ultra Lightweight TT Race will take place at 5.30pm, with the 250cc Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Lightweight TT Race following at 6.30pm.
Up to 45 entries will be accepted for both races, with the fastest 32 making up the grid for the 250cc Lightweight Race and the fastest 36 qualifying for the 125cc Ultra Lightweight Race. Both races will feature split starts, with 12 riders starting in three waves separated by 10-second intervals.
Leading TT riders such as Ian Lougher, Guy Martin, Ryan Farquhar and Chris Palmer are expected to do battle in the two races, worth a combined £16,800 in prize money.
There will also be a National Support Race in the programme for 1000cc and 600cc machines over 9 laps as part of the Southern 100 meeting.
Entries for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Lightweight and Ultra Lightweight TT Races will close on the 4th of April. There is no entry fee to enter either TT Race.
