Could further change be on the way for Michael Dunlop's choice of machinery?

Michael Dunlop looks set to switch to BMW machinery for his 2025 Road Racing campaign.

The 2025 Road Racing season could see Michael Dunlop make significant changes to his machinery.

The Isle of Man TT record-breaker tested a BMW M1000RR at Kirkistown circuit in Ireland this week, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

This latest test could showcase a major change for Dunlop at the Isle of Man TT and other significant road racing events.

This would be the second change that Dunlop has made when it comes to his chosen machinery.

In 2023 and 2024, Dunlop's chosen machine for the 'big bike classes' was a Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade. But if his most recent test was a success, this could be changed for a BMW.

Dunlop also tested and raced a Ducati Panigale V2 earlier this year, the V2 could also become Dunlop's chosen bike for the Supersport class.

Dunlop and BMW reunited once again:

Dunlop has a long-standing history with the German manufacturer and has taken several victories with BMW.

In 2014, he won the Senior TT on a Hawk Racing BMW. It was the German manufacturer’s first win at the TT in 75 years.

In 2016, Dunlop broke the sub-17 second lap barrier for the first time on a BMW S1000RR. He won the Superbike TT and Senior TT.

He won the 2018 Superbike TT on a BMW and won the Open ‘Race of Legends’ Superbike races at Armoy in 2021 on a BMW.

Dunlop also plans to race with a BMW in the Endurance World Championship this season. He will start his campaign in the world series next month at the Le Mans 24 Hours.
