DUNLOP SHELVES SPANISH NATIONAL RACE PLANS

William Dunlop has had to shelve plans to compete in a couple of Spanish National Championship races following his Cartagena test progarmme because he isn't, erm, Spanish.

The Ballymoney rider was hoping to get some further track time in by competing on eiter his 125GP or 600 Supersport bikes, but he has had to re-think his plans.

"Its kinda funny when you think of it, but I felt sure that we could have taken in a race meeting on either the 125 or the 600 while here, as Mark Kneen was going to sort it out for us," said Dunlop.

"We enquired about it on Wednesday, but we were told, no, as there is a rule that says's you must be Spanish to take part in their National Rounds. Leading up to that, I have taken part in some very good practise sessions while here on the PJ Flynn/Ballygowan 125 Honda, which Mark Kneen has been preparing for me over the winter months.

"The wee bike is going a real dream and I am very happy with it. I hope to get a run out on Friday maybe at Valencia, on the CD Racing 600 Yamaha, which if it goes as well as the 125, I will be well pleased. At the moment, other than not being Spanish, its all going very well."
