Ballymoney's William Dunlop ended his two-week pre-season testing with an off at Valencia and although he walked away with just a few big bruises, his CD Racing will need some unbending over the next few nights.
Dunlop lost the front of the Yamaha flat-out in fifth going through a right-hander but aside from that, the young Irishman feels his Spanish excursions have been a success.
"That was a big moment. The whole week hadgone perfectly with the 125 and 600 bikes really going well, in fact, I would say as well as they had ever gone," said Dunlop.
"I was feeling really confident on the 600 and was getting in some very good times, and that, coupled with the new Dunlop tyres, everything was working very well. It all came to an abrupt end however on Sunday when I went into a fast right hand corner on the Valencia circuit almost flat out in fifth gear, and lost the front end. There was no way back, and away I and the bike went into a pile of dust.
"It took me a moment or two to get my bearings back but I was able to walk away with virtually no effects to myself. I am a little stiff, but other than that I am fine. The bike took quite a bashing and it will need some tender care when I get back home, hopefully on Thursday of this week. Other than that, its been a very worth while time, so its back to the workshop in Ballymoney for the next few nights."
