Isle of Man TT clerk of the course Eddie Nelson has been replaced for the 2012 festival following several incidents at this year's event, including a public admonishment of marshals.

The ACU's general secretary, Gary Thompson, will take over the role. He has been involved with the TT since 2008 when the ACU Events, which runs the races, took over as the overseeing body. He is currently Deputy Clerk of the Course at the TT and has carried out numerous Road Race Clerk of the Course appointments at all levels.

“Motorcycle sport is a life-long passion and having grown up in Lincolnshire I watched many road race meetings at places like Cadwell Park and Mallory Park from an early age. I’m a huge fan of the TT Races and it’s a great honour to be appointed to the position of Clerk of the Course for the event," said Thompson.
