FAUGHEEN ROAD RACES: FIVE PODIUMS FOR DUNLOP

William Dunlop promoted himself into second place in both the Irish 125 & 250 Road Race Championships at the weekend when the PJ Flynn/Ballygowan RRSC rider notched up another double on the Irish roads, with Dunlop now firmly geared up for the UPcoming Ulster Grand Prix in two weeks' time.

For Dunlop, it was a near perfect weekend at Faugheen as he took five podium finishes from five starts, his most successful Faugheen to date, and with this weekend's Mid Antrim 150 next up on his list, Dunlop again predicts that he will again be right up at the front in the 125 and 250cc races.

"I really enjoyed Faugheen at the weekend, as the bikes are all now going the way I want them. The PJ Flynn 125 Honda and the Ballygowan RRSC 250 Honda's are really flying at the moment, and should they continue to run as they are now, then no-one will beat me in those classes. That's how confident I feel," said Dunlop.

"The two wins at the weekend came really easy, a repeat of Kells to be honest.  Once I got in front that was it, with the 250 now going as good as she ever has. I think I had six and a half seconds to spare over Michael in the 250 race, and the 125 race was a near carbon copy.

"I took three third places on Chris Dowds 600 and Superstock Yamaha's, and they also are chiming really well. The problem was me. I need a fast flowing circuit on the bigger bikes, but both machines are well capable of winning.   I fancy my chances at the Ulster in one of the 600 races, and I know that Dundrod is a circuit that suits me and that the 600 is as good as anyone else's out there, so it should be my best chance of a four stroke win this year.

"As for the Mid Antrim, well I don't fancy my chances to much in the 600 or Superbike class's as it will be a race between Ryan, Michael and Keith Amor. They are prepared to push that bit harder around the tight twisting circuits, so we will have to just wait and see whats comes about on Saturday. If I get a good lap or two in practice, then that might change things a bit. As far as the 125 and 250 bikes go at the Mid Antrim, I will be disappointed if I am not on the top step in both those races, that's how confident I feel on those wee bikes right now."
