Rich OMG Yamaha’s David Johnson has been forced out of TT 2022 after a crash at the Oulton British Superbike round left him with a fractured pelvis and collarbone.
The Australian was spat off his R1 on the way out of Knickerbrook and landed heavily before being collected by the bike.
A team statement reads:
David Johnson unfortunately sustained a fractured collarbone and a fractured pelvis in his heavy crash during Bennetts British Superbike race one at Oulton Park on Sunday. Davo was high sided from his Yamaha R1 exiting Knickerbrook, landing heavily on the circuit before being hit by his own motorcycle. The Aussie was transferred to Stoke Hospital where tests eventually revealed the extent of his injuries.
It is with great sadness that the team have taken the difficult decision to withdraw Davo from both the North West 200 and the Isle of Man TT events. The team are deeply disappointed for Davo and wish him a full and fast recovery.
It is not yet cloear whether Johnson will be replaced on the Superbike and Superstock machinery but Michael Dunlop still hasn’t announced his plans. Mind, his last outing on an R1 at the TT didn’t go well.
