Round one of the 2009 Irish Clubmans Short Circuit Championships kicks into life this weekend with the MCRRCI & Killinchy Clubs event being staged at the Bishopscourt racing circuit in Co-Down. Again, the event has attracted a huge entry for the 15 race programme, with the Supersort 600 class in particular, attracting the biggest response.
 
125 Aprilia /125cc GP Races
23 entries have been recieved for the North Dublin 125cc Aprilia / 125cc GP Newcomers Races over seven laps. Co-Limerick's Darragh Murphy who finished fourth in the 125cc Aprilia class in 2008 along with one race win will start this section as pre race favourite. Enniskillen's Melissa Kennedy who has shown great promise over the past two years will fair well in the 125 GP Class.
 
Pre-97 Races
Thirty-nine entries are in for the Pre-97 class with Carlow's Seamus Meally on his 600 Honda looking to be the man on tp come the weekend. Two wins in this class in 2008 which saw him take fifth in the Championship, will stand him him good stead in 2009.
 
Bridgestone Tyres Supersport 600
A massive entry in this class of 71 riders taking part in the two grouped timed sessions. Carrickfergus rider Glenn Irwin on the Slemish Waters Suzuki could be the man to watch, but he will be surrounded by an array of riders hoping for some of the same.

Riders to look out for in this class in 2009 include, Killyleagh's Steven Beers, Antrim's Jamie Patterson, Belfast rider Gavin Johnston, and Cullybackey's Kenny Robinson.
 
Classic Races
There have been entries for the classics, with 250 - 350 - 500 & 1000cc machines. All the old faces return in 2009 with Lurgan's Davy Crawford back on his 250cc Honda. Crawford finished 3rd in this class in 2008 with three wins under his belt.
