This year's Irish Superbike Championships gets back on track this weekend with the series returning to Mondello Park in Co-Kildare for round nine of the Championships, with all class disciplines again being catered for.
The meeting which will be held on the International track will see untimed and timed practice on Saturday morning with the first of the three championship races for each class taking place on Saturday afternoon. Sunday will see races two and three of the ISB Championship races with a championship clubmans race also making up the race programme.
Belfast rider Mark Lunney, fresh from his North West 200 exploits will be hoping to extend his lead in the 125GP, 250GP and Supersport 600 Championships. Lunney takes a 62pt lead in the 125 class over Ahoghill rider Robert English, with Lisburns Drew Jamison a further 9pts adrift of English. In the 250cc class, its again Lunney at the top with 150pts from Ballynahinch rider David Craig on 116pts, and local lad from Kildare, Thomas Lawlor third on 114pts.
The Issac Agnew Van Centre 650cc Supertwins Class is proving to be one of the most exciting and closest class's, with Ballyclare duo of Lee Hill and Alan Glasgow topping the table.
Hill leads the way on 145pts, with Glasgow tied with Ballynahinch rider David Craig on 126pts. Five out of the top six riders in the table have all scored race wins, with Craig still to notch up that first win.
Emmett O'Grady leads the way in the 400cc Supersport class on 156pts with the Ballymacelligott rider already notching up 4 wins, with second place man Joesph Loughlin from Castleblaney on 123pts and Belfast rider Joe Phillips, also win four wins third on 120pts.
Mark Lunney with two race wins takes the lead in the Supersport 600 class on 132pts with the Clean Sweep Yamaha rider looking to extend his lead with the absence Scotlands Keith Amor, who lies in second place on 122pts. Ballymoney's William Dunlop, (90pts) is currently in third place but he also will not be at Mondello this weekend, leaving the way clear for Lunney.
In the Irish Racer Magazine Irish Superbike Class, it should throw up a new leader this weekend with table topper Keith Amor not in the action at Mondello. Lisburn's David Haire on 109pts will be looking to creep closer at the top from his current second place, with Randlestown's Gerard Kingham looming close behind on 108pts in third place.
John Clarke and Stuart Graham from Banbridge will be looking to continue their unbeaten run with five straight wins when they will again come under stiff opposition from Dylan and Derek Lynch from Dublin in second place and Newtownards pairing of George Kennedy and Colin Smyth close behind in third place.
In the Supersport 600 and Irish Superbike Cup class's, Skerries rider Michael Sweeney who leads both class's with a healthy margin, but whether or not he has recovered from his hefty spill at the North West 200, will determine his participation this weekend.
