KINGHAM CONFIDENT FOR BISHOPSCOURT IRISH SUPERBIKES

Randlestown rider Gerard Kingham goes into this weekends ISB double header at Bishopscourt and Kirkistown beaming with confidence and, sitting pretty at the top of the Irish Superbike Championships table, with the KP Racing rider confident that he can capitalise in extending his lead over the Easter period.

After spending his last two ISB seasons under the Farlough Garage banner, Kingham made the switch over to the highly respective KP Racing Team in 2009, to contest the Irish Superbike and Irish Supersport 600 Championships, and after the opening round at Mondello Park last month, it looks as though Kinghams move was the right one.

After finishing fourth in the ISB table in 2008, a season which also saw the Randlestown ace take his first ISB Superbike race win when he got the better of 2007 Irish Superbike Champion Michael Pearson at Bishopscourt, Kingham then went one better by taking the lead for a first in his career in the Championship table when he scored a 1st-2nd & 5th place finishes at Mondello Park at the end of March this season.

But its not been all plain sailing for Kingham in 2009 after the KP Racing rider took a hefty tumble at the Craner Curves section at Donington Park, in the recent Six Nations Championships in which Gerard and his Northern Ireland Team mates won with ease. But not even that could dampen the Co-Antrim riders spirits, as he awaits the delivery of the new 2009 R1 Yamaha, a machine which may even get its first viewing at either Bishopscourt or Kirkistown this weekend.

"It's been a great start to the year for me and the KP Racing Team.   It is a great team to ride for and I feel really relaxed, which I believe is a vital for any rider to succeed," said Kingham.

"I am looking forward to this weekends Easter meetings at Bishopscourt and at Kirkistown, where I hope I can extend my lead in the ISB championships.   After that, I will have a few weeks off before taking in my first visit to the North West 200, a meeting which I am looking forward to with immense excitement, but my ultimate aim in 2009 is the Irish Superbike Championships."

With three of the top four riders currently at the top of the ISB Superbike Championships table in action else where this weekend, it could be just the ticket that Kingham needs to become the leader of the pack, or the King of Kirkistown come Monday.
