McGuinness backs team-mate Cummins for TT success

Racing legend John McGuinness has given his support to his new Honda Europe Road Racing team-mate Conor Cummins. The pair will contest both the NW200 and the Isle of Man TT together, and the veteran racer has backed the Manxman to succeed next year, especially at the prestigious TT.

"It will be Conor and me at Honda for the TT and I have a lot of time for him. He is a nice lad and he has been brought up correctly and he has been around the TT course very fast and he deserves a chance, and it is great to have him in the team," said McGuinness, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

But there is not much change for McGuinness in 2014, he will still have the same  team and mechanics at Honda Road Racing and is somewhat still in shock that he is still competing at the top level of racing at his age. As well as the roads he will be back in the MCE British Superbike paddock in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 class with the Padgett's team.

"I am looking forward to next year with the same team, same mechanics and same bikes, and I never thought that at my age I would still be doing it at this level. I will also do the Classic TT too, and will ride for Padgett's again in the support races in the British Superbike championship.

"The Padgett's team are the most enthusiastic team in the paddock, we do deals over pints of beer and we have a good time. I have some unfinished business on the electric bike so I want to do well with that. But I just want to be safe and I have nothing more to prove, but whatever I do I hope to do a solid job. I have a one year contract with Honda, and I will see how I feel next year."
