McGuinness to race in 2013 Classic TT

John McGuinness has confirmed his intention to take part in the inaugural Classic TT Races to be held over the August Bank Holiday weekend 23-26 August next year.

The 19 times TT race winner is teaming up with sponsor Roger Winfield to ride a BIC Paton machine in the 500cc Classic TT Race in the inaugural 2013 Classic TT Races on the Isle of Man.

The decision of McGuinness, the fastest man on two wheels around the 37.75 mile Mountain Course is a major boost to the event.

He will ride Winfield’s exotic BIC Paton machine, taking over from the previous rider of this machine, the recently retired Ryan Farquhar who had previously taken this bike to five victories at the Manx Grand Prix.

McGuinness relishes the challenge: “Ever since the Classic TT concept was announced I have wanted to get involved and support the organisers with this exciting new idea. I love the Isle of Man and I love riding a bike around the TT Mountain Course, so getting the chance to do it on a really special Classic bike is a dream come true.

“I've already had a little run out on the bike just for a bit of fun at the Festival of Jurby (pictured) during this year's Manx Grand Prix and straight away I was impressed by how good it was to ride. Roger is a fantastic guy to work with and when he invited me to ride the bike at the Classic TT it was an easy decision to make,” added the Morecame rider.
