No Room For Error to return in 2024 as TT coverage is recognised for prestigious award

No Room For Error

No Room For Error’, the fly-on-the-wall docu-series charting the exploits of competitors during the Isle of Man TT, will return for a second season in 2024, it has been confirmed.

The four-part series - inspired by ‘Drive To Survive’, the hugely successful Netflix series filmed around the F1 World Championship - premiered in the run up to the 2023 Isle of Man TT road racing festival.

Televised nationally on the ITVX streaming service, ‘No Room For Error’ followed the likes of Peter Hickman, Dean Harrison, John McGuinness and more as they tackled ‘The Mountain’ during the 2022 staging of the event, the first since 2019 after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following a warm reception from both participants and viewers, TT Business Development Manager Paul Philipps confirmed to BSN that a second series of No Rooms For Error based around the 2023 TT has been filmed and will hit screens next year.

“Season 2 is in the can and the first pre-edit meeting has happened, and on we go,” he confirmed. “It will be put together over the remainder of this year and be televised in 2024.

When asked about the process that led to the TT leaning into promoting itself to newer audiences digitally, Philipps says the TT’s assets - such as its reputation, the mind-boggling spectacle and setting - makes it the ideal event to document.

“Sports documentaries are in fashion at the moment and the TT should be a good thing to have a documentary based on since it is so unique and the people are so interesting.

No Room For Error was a real passion project, it was made with a very small budget but we ended up with a product which we felt was absolutely authentic, was different, provided existing fans with access to their sport that they hadn’t had previously but also was interesting enough for some new fans to find and follow, so that’s how it played out.

“In terms of critical acclaim, it was really well received by viewers and the public reaction was strong and it did decent numbers on ITVX, it did really well across all platforms and it helped change some perceptions on the TT I think.”

News of second ‘No Room For Error’ series comes as coverage for the 2022 Isle of Man TT earned a prestigious nomination at the 2023 Broadcasting Awards, which celebrates the production and vision exhibited by a wide range of programming.

Nominated in the Best Sports of Live Event category against entries that included coverage of the Queen’s Funeral, the TT would ultimately lose out to ‘The Hundred’, Sky Sports’ coverage of the cricket tournament.
