Northwest 200: Bombscare delays first Superbike race

Racing at the Northwest 200 has been suspended due to a security alert in the paddock. Technical director Mervyn Whyte confirmed that a coded warning had been received at 11.50am and, just before the Superbikes were about to commence their sighting laps, the action came to a halt with complete evacuation of the paddock.

Everyone in the paddock and adjacent areas (grandstand, hospitality etc) have been moved to the rear field of the paddock whilst the PSNI and search dogs sweep the area. The scare has been declared a hoax and racing has continued.
