NORTHWEST 200: EMOTIONAL PODIUM FOR DUNLOP

Michael Dunlop won probably the most emotional race in road racing history on Saturday.
His father, Robert, was killed on Thursday night practising for the 250cc race which Michael went on to win in fine style two days later - even though it looked like he wasn't going to ride up until about 10 minutes before the flag was about to drop.
An eyewitness said: "It wasn't just one rider on that bike. Most people reckon there was two, I think it might have been more like three, Robert and Joey were looking after the boy and, as someone else said, the Dunlops will never be dead while Michael is around with guts like that.
"He was taken home straight after the 250 race was over. I really don't think he was going to race up until the last minute. We were in the paddock less than 20 minutes before the race and [brother] William was in his leathers then and heading to the grid when Michael came running up the tunnel in normal clothes. He must have decided to race and was running back to get changed. It certainly proved to be the right decision."
Michael won the race by over a second from Christian Elkin and John McGuinness. McGuinness said: "I do want to give my congratulations to Michael Dunlop for winning the 250cc race. It was a pleasure to be on the podium with him and I’m sure his dad is very proud.”
