Jeremy McWilliams took a brilliant second place in Thursday's Supertwins race on his NW200 debut and admitted the feeling of crossing the line was as good as anything he's experienced in racing.
The 2001 250cc Dutch GP winner's enjoyment of racing on the roads for the first time has been clear to see although he's yet to make a decision if he'll return in the years to come.
"Racing here at the North West 200 has been a fantastic experience and riding for Ryan and his team and going on to finish second has been unbelievable. I obviously did my homework before coming here but you never know how things are going to go once you're out on the bike," said McWilliams, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
"Once I went out for practice on Tuesday - and got over the shock of riding in hailstones - I've throughly enjoyed the circuit, especially the run along the coast road and down towards University when you're slipstreaming someone else. It's a lovely flowing circuit and has been great fun but I had no idea how I'd fare - I could have been last - but to gel with the circuit and finish in second was the icing on the cake. I've throughly enjoyed myself"
"I looked at doing the event back in the 1990s when I was racing in the 500cc GPs but shelved the idea then but when Ryan and I got talking at the Phillip Island Classic Festival, he put the plan to me and we had a good chat so it all went from there. He actually suggested doing the Manx but I wasn't too keen on that so we got everything in place to do the Supertwins here and riding for Ryan has been great. He's got a superb team and puts together a great bike - the KMR ER6 Kawasaki was second to none - so myself and Michael (Rutter) were only too happy to ride for him. We knew the bikes would be equally competitive and they've been a pleasure to ride.
"Conditions weren't ideal but I had a great dice with Adrian (Archibald) and finishing second was beyond my wildest dreams - with Ryan winning, Michael finishing third and Jamie in sixth it couldn't have gone any better. I'm so glad I came here and it's fulfilled a dream if you like. Whether or not I'll come back, it's too early to say - but I'll never say never."
