Former Irish Superbike Champion Michael Pearson has decided not to take part in the the two NorthWest 200 Superbike races this weekend because his Superstock R1 will not be quick enough at the high-speed coastal circuit.
Pearson will, instead, concentrate on the two Supersport races and the Superstock outing hoping that his recent bad luck at the seaside venue will be put to rest once and for all.
"We took the truck up to the NW200 Paddock on Saturday morning, so we are already in place for this weeks practice and racing. I have decided not to compete in the superbike races this year, as our Superstock Yamaha just does not have the power against the big factory supported Superbikes," said Pearson.
"I will concentrate on the two Supersport 600 races, with the GSMCC Honda, and if all goes according to plan, I think that we can surprise a few people with decent results in this class.
"I will also ride the R1 Yamaha in the Superstock race, and I would like to think that a top 10 finish in this race is a possibility. It all depends on how practice goes, but I think that we have learned a lot over the past three years at this event, to know what and what not to do. Fingers crossed."
