There is a stewards inquiry into the result of the opening 250cc race at the NorthWest 200 after Christian Elkin and Michael Dunlop were in collision going into the final set of corners on the last lap.
The original race start only lasted one lap before the red flags came out after Mark Young crashed at Mathers Cross and was taken to hospital with leg and chest injuries.
On the re-start Michael Dunlop and Elkin disputed the lead with William coming from the back row of the grid into third spot.
Passing and re-passing Dunlop led into towards Juniper on the last lap, but Elkin dived up the inside to take the lead.
However on the exit Elkin high sided off his machine leaving Dunlop nowhere to go and he also crashed out leaving William Dunlop to storm through to win his first North West 200 race pending a stewards inquiry into the final result.
Elkin has been taken to hospital with a broken leg and chest injuries which are said not to be any cause for concern.
