IRISH SUPERBIKES | PEARSON CRASHES OUT OF KIRKISTOWN IN BAD WEATHER

Defending Irish Superbike Champion, Michael Pearson, crashed out of Monday’s second round of the Irish Superbike Championships, which later in the day were abandoned due to a spate of weather affacted incidents, which resulted in four riders including Pearson, requiring hospital treatment.
It was in the first ISB Championship race that Pearson came to grief, after the cold track conditions caught the Carryduff Forklifts/Boost Drinks rider out as he exited the chaicane on lap one while holding onto third place.
Pearson was high-sided of his machine which resulted in the race being stopped as medical personal treated him. He was taken to the Ulster Hospital near Belfast were it was discovered that he had broken his right hand and recieved severe brusing to his back and arms.
Michael was released on Monday evening with his right hand in a plaster cast, which will rule the talented rider out for four weeks. A further spate of incidents resulted in the meeting being abandoned due to the weather conditions.

Team manager Willis Marshall said: "Its been a very frustrating day. The cold conditions, along with the gusting winds made it almost impossible for racing, which contributed to Michael’s accident. At first we thought his injuries were worse, but thankfully the X-rays proved that wasn’t the case.
"Michael is very stiff and very sore as one could guess, but his spirts are high, and he is setting his sights on returning to racing at the North West 200 on May 17th. It will depend on his injuried hand healing in time, but we have not ruled out taking in the April 20th meeting at Scarbrough, but at the moment that is 50/50. The doctors have told Michael that his hand will heal quicker in a cast rather than having it pinned, so that in itself is good news."
