Ballygowan rider Michael Pearson bridged a 13-year Irish gap at Sunday's Cock O' The North meeting at Oliver's Mount in Scarborough on Sunday when the former Irish Superbike Champion lifted the Cock O the North Trophy for a first time, after taking a superb victory on his Carryduff Forklifts R1 Yamaha.
Not content with this, Pearson then recorded the Superbike Race win before finishing in second place to record Scarborough winner Ian Lougher in the Supersport 600 race, albeit just 0.8 seconds adrift of the BlackHorse Yamaha rider.
On Saturday, Pearson took a brace of wins in the Superbike Heat, and Superbike Race, before taking a runner up spot in the 600 race, and weekend that Pearson will never forget.
"My God, what a weekend. I knew I could win a race here as I just love the circuit. To win the Cock O' the North Race was really pleasing to be honest," said Pearson.
"I finished this race in second place last year and knew that I could do the same if not better this time around. This is the sort of weekend that makes racing worth while."
Pearson also dedicated his win to the memory of Andrew Neill, who was killed in the Walderstown Road Races on Sunday.
