Carryduff Forklifts/Boost Drinks Yamaha rider Michael Pearson received another boost in preparation before this weekend's Killalane Road Races in North County Dublin, with the Current Irish Superbike Champion being selected by the Ballynahinch GSMCC to ride their new Yamaha 600 Supersport machine in the 2009 Irish Road Race Championships, along side his CF/Boost Drinks R1 Superbike machine.
For Pearson, this is a welcome shot in the arm to have over the winter months, but before he can sit back and take it all in, he has the small business of this weekends Killalane Roads Races in North County Dublin to content with. This will be Pearson's first visit to the Killalane road Races, which he sees as being a very demanding circuit, but one that he believes can be alot of fun.
"Firstly I am over the moon to be selected to ride the GSMCC R6 Yamaha in 2009. This is very welcome news even before the 2008 season has ended, and there will not be to many people in this position," said Pearson.
"The GSMCC are a bunch of guys from the Ballynahinch/Carryduff area who are really into their racing, and they have been watching me progress this year, and after a chat recently and I was given this news. I was intending to run my own 600 next year but this has saved alot of hassle to be honest. I will still have my Superstock Bike which I hope to update to Superbike standard in 2009, but that is only going to happen if I can find the money to do that.
"Still, I am in a better position now than I was in last year, and its good to see that the work we have done along with all my sponsors, has proven fruitful.
"I am going to Killalane for a first time this weekend, which is a whole new ball game for me. I will again be riding in the Open and Grand Final races on my Yamaha Superstock machine, and I will be happy to break into the top ten. Its all about learning another circuit to be honest as I will be doing more racing next year than I ever did in the past. After Killalane, its across the water again to Scarborough for the Gold Cup weekend which has attracted all the top names in the uk, so it going to be one hell of a race meeting. As soon as Scarborough is over, its across to Frohberg in Germany for the annual Frohberg Races which is another first for me, so as you can see, its going to be a very busy month."
