Peter Hickman has been airlifted to hospital after suffering a crash on the opening lap of Friday evening's qualifying session for the 2025 Isle of Man TT.
The 14-time TT winner came down heavily from his 8TEN Racing-team run Monster Energy BMW M 1000 RR at Kerrowmoar, necessitating a red flag so medical crews could tend to him.
The Louth rider was said to be 'conscious and stable' according to organisers, though speculation suggests he has suffered a significant leg injury. It is understood his Superstock machine had a mechanical issue.
Hickman was flown by Airmed helicopter to Noble's Hospital, where he will remain for treatment.
With red flags deployed to halt the qualifying session, it was eventually called off entirely due to bad weather without a rider setting a fast time.
The injury scuppers Hickman's hopes of adding to his career tally of wins, one of the best in the history of the event.
Hickman - who holds the lap record for the Mountain Course at a speed of 136.358mph - was due to compete in the Superbike and Superstock classes on a BMW, as well as his self-entered PHR Racing Triumph in Supersport.
