"Nothing like a 140mph slap against the Manx countryside..." - Peter Hickman on TT crash

Peter Hickman has been discharged from hospital two days after the accident that has forced him to miss the remainder of the 2025 Isle of Man TT event.

The 14-time TT winner and lap record-holder around the Snaefell Mountain Course crashed heavily at Kerrowmoar in the early stages of Friday's Qualifying 3 practice session.

The BMW Motorrad UK-backed 8TEN Racing rider, who had come into the event as a favourite for victory in all four solo classes, suffered chest, back, shoulder and facial injuries in the incident.

After being taken to Noble's Hospital via AirMed on Friday, an update from BMW Motorrad UK revealed he has now been discharged before posting an image of the BSB race winner looking battered and bruised, but smiling all the same.

"Had a bit of a get off on Friday night," he wrote on social media. "Nothing quite like a 140mph slap against the Manx countryside. Battered and bruised, but we’ll be back."

Nevertheless, a post from the manufacturer reiterated that he remains 'in good spirits' and is already planning his return to action at next year's event.

"Peter Hickman continues to recover in Noble’s hospital. Members of the team visited Peter today, who is in good spirits but disappointed to sit out the remainder of the 2025 TT.

"Peter passes on his thanks for all the well wishes and is looking forward to next year already."

As well as scuppering hopes of building on his victory tally at the TT - which places him sixth on the all-time list - Hickman's campaign in the British Superbike Championship looks set to be interrupted by the incident.

Despite Hickman's exit, BMW and 8TEN Racing still remain among the top favourites for success when race action is scheduled to kick off on Monday after Davey Todd posted the quickest lap of the week on his Superstock-specification BMW M 1000 RR during Saturday's Q4 practice.
