Peter Hickman added a string to his increasingly lavish road racing bow after scoring a podium during a wild-card appearance in the latest round of the International Road Racing Championship at Imatra, Finland.

Fresh from achieving another four victories at the Isle of Man TT - bringing his career tally to 14 - and smashing the lap record with a huge 136.358mph effort, Hickman travelled to Finland to join both the Superbike and Supersport ranks for Round 3 of the 2023 IRRC season.

In an event marred by the death of Dutch competitor Joey den Besten during the warm-up lap of a Superbike race badly affected by heavy rain, Hickman took his FHO Racing BMW M 1000 RR to fourth and second place results, the latter seeing him finish just over six seconds behind local specialist Emo Kostamo.

He also notched up a third place finish in the Supersport class aboard his self-prepared PHR Trooper Triumph STR765 RS.

Writing on social media at the end of the weekend, Hickman - who will be back in BSB action this weekend at Snetterton - was full of praise for his Finnish jaunt [click image to view on Instagram]

“A crazy weekend of weather at Imatra made it challenging for my first time there. The track was different for every session, but we adapted and came away with podium places.

“The whole event was great, with the rider's parade on Friday into the city and the very warm welcome by everyone we met. Thanks for having us!”
