Talented north east rider Keith Pringle looks set to be the latest victim of the economic crisis in the UK as he faces being forced out of the sport in 2009. Like many other riders, Pringle has struggled to secure the necessary financial backing to run his team during 2009 and, unless circumstances change, will have little option other than to pull out of the sport.
Pringle has more than proved his capabilities in recent years and having won both the North East ACU Championship and Ken Redfern Trophy in 2005, he has also secured regular leaderboard results at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough. Indeed, 2008 saw him step on the podium at the Spring National meeting whilst he also took an excellent 7th in September’s International Gold Cup, just behind the 3rd place battle involving Michael and William Dunlop, Ian Lougher and Michael Pearson.
Equally impressive was his debut at the North West 200 where he finished inside the top 30 in all of his races, whilst also ending the day as the fastest newcomer. As always, Pringle was a picture of professionalism in 2008, always immaculately presented and with his machines prepared meticulously.
Speaking about his current situation, Keith said: “Unfortunately, as like a lot of other racers, it is looking like 2009 is going to be a no go for me due to a lack of finance.
"I want to try a last few attempts at gaining some support before I decide to pull out of 2009. What I am looking for is either some financial backing or a ride on a 1000cc Superbike/Superstock machine to race at the three Scarborough meetings, the North West 200, Ulster GP and the Manx as a newcomer or possibly the TT if required.
"If I can get a ride, I can look after and maintain, paint and sticker the bike/bikes so they are pristine for every meeting.”
“I run an onboard camera at all of the Scarborough meetings, available to view on www.oliversmount.com, and am desperate to stay in the sport as I know I can continue to give a good account of myself at the aforementioned meetings.
"Any help, however great or small, would be greatly appreciated.”
