RAF Reserves Honda announce McGuinness, Pro-Bolt for Macau

RAF Reserves Honda have signed Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness to race for them at this year’s Macau Grand Prix and have also secured Pro-Bolt as a title sponsor for the event.

McGuinness has been riding in the former Portugese colony since 1998 and team boss Lee Hardy thought it fitting as McGuinness was a good friend of the team’s rider Simon Andrews, who was killed at the North West 200 this year.

“I always wanted to do the race with Simon, and John was a great friend of his so it will be an amazing opportunity for the team. We are looking forward to the challenge and we know we have not got the strongest bike on the grid,” said Hardy.

“We have not had the budget to prepare a special engine for the event either but John will be riding our latest-spec BSB engine but as we all know the Honda has a great chassis and inspires confidence which I’m sure John will make full use of.”

The Pro-Bolt deal came about through Kevin Harker, himself and Pro-Bolt have been a massive supporter of the Lee Hardy race team supplying both off the shelf and bespoke parts.
