Larne teenager Richard Rea, took his first 600 / 1010 cc Clubman’s race win at Bishopscourt last weekend. Rea, who comes from a pedigree racing background, delighted fans when he took the race win in the first leg of the 60 /1010 cc Clubman’s at the King of Bishopscourt meeting.
Not only did Rea’s father Johnny race, winning on both roads and short circuits and was a TT winner, but his older brother is none other than World Superbike rider Jonathan Rea.
Richard who has until recently always been in Jonathon’s shadowed proved on Sunday that he too has what it takes to win races, just like his big brother and father.
The younger of the two brothers has been training hard over the winter with his bigger and more experience brother and it has clearly paid off as he has made it second race win this season, unfortunately things did not go so well to plan in the second race of the day when he registered a DNF. Let’s hope that the two wins is just the start of a promising Superbike career.
