An incident involving one competitor during the Solo Championship race at the Southern 100 International Road Races resulted in the race being red flagged on the fifth lap of the eight lap race.
The competitor was taken to Nobles Hospital by Airmed, although his injuries are not thought to be life threatening. The incident resulted in a large amount of debris being left on the course; which necessitated the use of a mechanical sweeper to clean the surface, prior to racing continuing. The Solo Championship race was declared as a result at the end of the fourth lap, giving race leader Ian Lougher his fifth Southern 100 Solo Championship.
An incident involving three outfits during the opening lap of the Sidecar Championship race, it was necessary to stop the race.
Two competitors were taken to Nobles Hospital with injuries not thought to be life threatening. Subsequently, the Sidecar Race was cancelled due to the lack of time remaining in the road closing order to complete the race.
