It was the Amor / Farquhar show part two yesterday at Tandragee with the dynamic duo renewing their battle for supremacy on the Irish Road Racing Championship. The pair shared the wins in the Superbike races but it was the canny Scot Amor who took the win eventually in the main Around A Pound Tandragee 100 race with only 0.275 to spare from the Killyman rider Farquhar. The two delighted the massive crowd who turned out for the 50th Anniversary of the Tandragee 100 Road Races, where it was William Dunlop who took third place behind the dicing two with John Burrows in fourth ahead of road racing virgin Michael Pearson in firth ahead of Saintfield’s Davy Morgan.
The roles were reversed for the duo in the Tayto Open race when it was Farquhar who took the win ahead of Amor who when he realised he couldn’t bet his Dungannon rival he backed off slightly going over the line at the chequered flag ahead of Adrian “Scratch” Archibald with William Dunlop in fourth. The paid were again in action along with the Dunlop brothers in the Supersport race where it was Michael Dunlop who eventually took the win, just from Amor and Farquhar after a race long battle which saw all three taking turns to lead the race. Archibald held off William Dunlop to take fourth place ahead of Dunlop and Pearson in sixth.
The Dunlop brothers again renewed their own battle, joined by cousin Sam in the 125GP race which was run concurrent with the Supertwins. It was Michael who got the win ahead of Nigel Moore and Mark Young with Sam in fourth. William was disappointed to pull up with mechanical trouble during the fourth lap as did Darren Burns. Farquhar was again the dominant force in the Supertwins ahead of Des Butler and Neil Nugent when John Burrows who should have been making his Supertwins debut at Tandragee failed to get off the start line when his Irishracephotography.com machine developed engine problems.
The Millside Engineering Junior race saw Michael Dunlop again take the win ahead of Morgan and Mark Young, with Emlyn Hughes holding off William Dunlop. Benny Smith and Timmy Turtle shared the spoils in the Support races with Turtle betting Andy O’Brien and David Yeomans in the Junior Support while Smith took the victory ahead of William Davidson and Turtle in the Senior.
Ollie Linsdell was the victor in the Andrew Knox & Co Ltd Classic races ahead of Neill McWhirter and Wattie Brown. Linsdell will be hoping that this is a perfect start to his run up to the North West 200 in two weeks time.
