Sidecar legend Dave Molyneux has recorded his 14th TT win in the first sidecar race this afternoon on the 20th anniversary of his debut victory when he won on a 1300 Yamaha in 1989.
Molyneux, with passenger Dan Sayle, won the race by just less than a minute after close rivals Nick Crowe and Mark Cox retired from the leads at Greeba Bride on lap two, while the third-placed outfit belonging to John Holden pulled up at the Black Dub.
Philip Dongworth and Gary Partridge crossed the line in a lonely second place, 53.93s behind Moly while Simon Neary and Stuart Bond battled with three times World Champion Tim Reeves for the final podium place.
An emotional Molyneux, who also recorded his fastest ever lap at 116.010mph, said: "That's not bad for an old bugger! I am feeling it now, the old bones are pretty stressed. I've had a hell of a year and it's all come good."
After a slow start, Reeves managed to close back to within two seconds at Glen Helen on lap three but that was expanded to four seconds by the time Reeves reached Ramsey Hairpin. At the Bungalow, Reeves had pegged it back to a little over two seconds.
At Cronk ny Mona the gap was back up to three seconds and the gap remained the same as the outfits crossed the line, with Neary and Bond finishing 1'19.58 behind Molyneux. Reeves and Farrance ended the race 1'22.60s in arrears.
