TT 2011: 'I'd have been happy with a 31mph lap!' - Doohan

Five-times World 500cc Champion Mick Doohan finished his parade lap around the Isle of Man TT Mountain Course and immediately said it was hard enough keeping up with the travelling marshal let alone doing a 131mph lap.

Doohan, who circulated with Nicky Hayden, let Cal Crutchlow and Josh Brookes disappear off the front of the group while someone called Neeves wobbled around at the back.

'It would have been nicer to go a bit slower to see what we were doing and just trying to keep up with the marshal guy was scary enough. I could see him but I didn't know what was in front of him but the place is amazing that's for sure," said the five-times world champion.

"To think these guys race as hard as they do around here is a credit to them but you can see why one mistake is a big mistake. I wasn't this type of a racer and I wouldn't be if I came back. I was close to 150mph at some stages but if we had done a 31mph lap I'd have been happy with that.

"I always thought it would be a fairly daunting place, I thought there would be a few more slower turns but even at the speed we were travelling we didn't need to lean the bikes over much. You can see why the average speed is so high."
