TT 2011: Saturday gossip and pit bits

Michael Dunlop lost two minutes in the pits at the end of lap two when the hot rear spindle wouldn't go back in the less warm wheel. Damn you, physics.

John McGuinness' win extended his sequence of winning every Superbike race he's finished since 2004. He later went out on his Supersport bike for a practice lap only to hit a bird at Appledene and end the lap covered in blood and with a smashed windscreen. Sunday sees him as a Honda tour guide. On a bus...

Michael Rutter retired from the Superbike race when a problem with the breather pipe saw oil begin to leak out and he decided to pull off the course immediately.

Guy Martin's Superbike race ended with a suspected broken rectifier whilst Conor Cummins stopped when 'the engine went sick'.

Dan Stewart suffered a slide on the exit of Greeba Castle during the race landing on the tank and damaging his wedding tackle. The Wilcock Consulting rider also struggled with rear grip throughout the race but still posted a personal best lap of 128.788mph for his third sixth place finish on a Superbike machine.

Including Gary Johnson, no less than 10 riders received 30-second penalties for exceeding the 60mph pit lane speed limit.

Bruce Anstey, Johnson and Martin lapped in excess of 130mph in race conditions for the very first time.

The fastest newcomer in the race was Dean Harrison who lapped at 119.385mph although he was later to retire. The highest placed newcomer was Dan Hegarty who took 32nd place.
