Conor Cummins has been forced to withdraw from today's opening Superbike TT. He had originally planned to race this morning but without the use of painkillers. However, after another night's sleep, his hand is still not in good enough shape so he will rest it until at least Monday.
The Manxman broke two metacarpals in the crash crash, had an operation on his right hand two days later which saw the bones wired up. He is undergoing daily sessions in the island's hyperbaric chamber but had to withdraw on safety grounds and give the injury 48 more hours to heal.
“I have got to keep sight of the bigger picture - everyone wants to win the Senior TT and that includes me. I am going to look at it on Monday and see how it's looking for the rest of the week. I’ve done probably about seven practice laps, the big priority was to get qualified in all classes and I’ve done that. I’m a big boy, I can deal with these sorts of things, it makes you stronger really," said the Ramsey resident.
