Isle of Man TT bosses have confirmed that 11 spectators were injured when Jonathan Howarth crashed on the opening lap of today's Senior race.
Details of the incident at Bray Hill are still scarce but Howarth escaped injury. The race was red-flagged and the casualties, none of them life threatening, were taken to hospital.
"ACU Events Ltd can confirm spectators have been injured during the Senior TT Race, at approximately 13.07, in an incident that involved rider Jonathan Howarth. The rider was unhurt. The race was red flagged and emergency services were in attendance at the scene," said a spokesman.
"Eleven spectators have been taken to hospital with injuries ranging from slight to serious. None are believed to be life threatening at this time. The Police will not be carrying out a full investigation at this stage and it remains a racing incident."
The race will re-start at 4.30pm.
