Tyco Suzuki's TT rookie Josh Brookes cracked the 120mph lap barrier twice in tonight's first proper dry practice on the Isle of Man and then upped the ante with his fastest so far - a staggering 121.996mph.
The Aussie put in his first lap of 118.792 on his first from a standing start and then upped that on his second, and first flyer, with 120.027 before pulling into the pits. His third lap was almost a 121mph lap with a 120.824mph before then going faster again. Brookes' final lap was on his Superstock bike at 115.477mph.
"It definitely feels fast now, that's for sure. I only made a couple of mistakes. One big one at Rhencullen where I got shaken about a bit. It was a bit like Cadwell where the bike shakes a bit if you don't land straight but the others have been little ones where I have just been off line," said Brookes, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.
"I was on the wrong line at Sarah's Cottage and drifted out too wide and I just rolled through Handley's. I thought to myself that I can get it much faster, but then when you come up to it, you think the opposite but it's better to do it that way!"
