TT 2013: Donald 'struggled for clean practice lap'

Wilson Craig Honda's Cameron Donald says his place on the Superbike TT practice sheets is not an indication of his outright pace as he struggled to get a clean lap in during the curtailed practice.

The Aussie, who has won many unofficial awards for his new beard including the coveted Uncle Albert/Das Boot, says he is confident ahead of this afternoon's opening race and promises to be at the sharp end.

"For sure it’s been a mixed week but I’ve never had an easy practice week here at the TT so I’ve got used to dealing with whatever the Island’s thrown at me. What practice we’ve had has gone well but the biggest problem I’ve had is that I haven’t been able to strong a full lap together," said Donald, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"Due to damp patches, yellow flags and the like, I’ve only been able to do quick sectors so my lap speeds on the leaderboard don’t really reflect my pace.

“We’ve been trying a lot of things and everything we’ve tried has been an improvement and moved us forward so I’m confident I’ll be at the sharp end come race day. I know the bikes well enough and, like most of the riders, I just want to get on with the job of racing now.”
