Guy Martin finished today's Dainese Superbike TT in fourth place after being overhauled for a podium by John McGuinness on his way to a new outright lap record and admitted it was a struggle.
The Lincolnshire truck fitter and TV star ended the six-laps with badly blistered hands after wrestling his Tyco Suzuki GSX-R1000 for two hours and said some fine tuning is required before the Senior on Friday.
“I’m disappointed. That was a bit of a fighting match. Yes I did 130mph on that first lap but I’ve gone quicker than that on a Suzuki and although I had a few slides – those Metzeler tyres are really good," said Martin.
"We need to do a bit of fine-tuning for the Senior. I’m fit enough for the job and the bike is strong enough, but my hands are covered in blisters after that. It really was a struggle.”
