TT 2013: Superbike race 'could be practice for Senior' - Hillier

After finally getting in some dry track time, Quattro Plant Kawasaki's James Hillier admitted tomorrow's Superbike TT race could well be used as extra practice time in preparation for the Senior race later in the week.

Like all the other fancied runners, Hillier had only had four untimed laps under his belt on the 600cc and 1000cc machines prior to last night's dry session.

"Like everyone, we're behind where we should be at this stage of the week and it's not ideal to say the least. It could be worse but in terms of out and out pace, we could be looking at the Senior race before we get to the level where we want to be," said Hillier, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"Last night was good but I still only got four standing start laps in, two on the Superbike and two on the Stocker and you need more than that to be in a position to push for podiums.

"The Superbike was a bit unstable last night and we weren't agreeing on too many things last night! Stability's paramount around here but it was getting a bit out of shape through the fast, bumpy sections. We've made a few changes but obviously need to test them in practice, we don't want to be going into the race on an untried bike.

"A couple of people came by me last night and they were more out of shape than me, particularly through the Ginger Hall to Ramsey section, and that's simply down to a lack of rack time."

Hillier posted best laps of 123.833mph on the Superbike and 122.574mph on his Superstock but is still in need of posting a Supersport qualifying lap prior to Monday's first four-lap Supersport race.
