Peter Hickman ended the TT fortnight in sensational style, not only ending up as the best newcomer but also as the fastest-ever newcomer – marmalising Josh Brookes’ 127.6mph record lap from last year with a 129.104 of his own in the Senior.

Riding the Ice Valley by Motorsave BMW S1000RR in Superstcok trim, Hickman placed 11th in the Senior and with 8th in the Superstock and 14th in the Superbike, he also picked up three silver replicas. The results should not only put him on the shopping list of many teams for TT2015 but also remind everyone in the BSB paddock what he's capable of.

"The whole experience was amazing and I just enjoyed myself from start to finish. I was just steady away all the time and kept learning with each and every lap, trying to improve things, right up until the very last lap of the Senior,” said Hickman, speaking to bikesportnews.com

“I was trying new lines, different gears in places and to lap at 129mph felt pretty special although not necessarily fast. I think by that time I'd got used to the speed of the course and I was just using the race as more practice.

"I cruised into the pit stops and know there's a good few places on the course where I can go quicker so there's definitely more time to be found. I didn't rush anything though and wherever I ended up, I ended up.

“I didn't have any expectations when I went although deep down I felt capable of doing a 125mph. To do 129 though is really pleasing as it doesn't put me that far off the top boys. I just let everything come to me and enjoyed the whole event. You can't not enjoy it and I'll be looking to return next year for definite."
