Ballymoney’s Michael Dunlop has added a tenth Isle of Man TT win to his tally which now stands at ten with victory in today’s Monster Energy Supersport race two.
Dunlop crossed the line first on the road after second-placed man Bruce Anstey allowed him past on the run to the line to take the chequered flag. Dunlop has now equalled the likes of Giacomo Agostini and Stanley Woods on the all-time list.
The Irishman rebuilt his Honda 600cc engine last night and his plan was to catch Anstey on the roads, which he did on lap two at Ramsey and he then followed the Kiwi with a nine-second advantage on corrected time.
Older brother William put his Tyco Suzuki on the rostrum in third place with youngster Dean Harrison in fourth and James Hillier grabbed fifth place after Josh Brookes and Lee Johnston were involved in an incident at Greg-ny-Baa on the last lap. Neither rider was injured.
Veteran Keith Amor finished in sixth with Ivan Lintin coming up to seventh after starting in 25th. Manxman Dan Kneen finished in eight, Dan Stewart ninth and Guy Martin tenth.
Ian Hutchinson and Conor Cumms retired on lap one at Glendarroch and The Highlander respectively. A fire in the pits during the stops saw Grand Wagstaff’s bike go up in flames and pitlane was briefly closed. He was not injured.
There will have to be a lot of time adjustments as riders were held on the entry to pitlane.
